Oregon's Workforce Initiatives

Sector Partnerships
A sector partnership (a regional partnership of employers within one industry that works closely with government, education, etc.) is an organizing vehicle that facilitates this industry engagement and results in appropriate and efficient job training, job placement, and job attachment for all job seekers. Sector partnerships give voice to employers about their high priority issues, opportunities and needs, and often result in alliances and coordinated efforts that promote job creation and industry expansion.

Back to Work Oregon (BTWO)
Launched in 2011, to get Oregon’s economy back on track.  On-the-Job Training (OJT): A “hire-first” program that reimburses a company for the cost of training a new employee. A rigorous training plan is put in place by the company which leads to employee retention in the job. The employee becomes a taxpayer by drawing a paycheck during training and beyond.

Certified Work Ready Communities (CWRC)
CWRC initiative positions local communities to better compete for jobs, for business growth, and for economic success. Work Ready Communities is all about managing  the Talent Pipeline to align with the needs of the business and employers.  Certified Work Ready Communities empower Oregon counties with actionable data and specific workforce goals that can help drive economic growth. The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) is one foundational component of the CWRC.
